This is the time of year I normally sit back and reflect over my life for the past year. I was talking to a friend the other day and was asked if I could change one thing this year that happened to me what would it be? AND if I could change something going into the new year what would it be? Ummm.... I started thinking about the series of events that happen to me this year, and I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't change one thing. I had some good and bad times this year....but then I realize it's how you handle these times is what makes you a better person. The one thing I would change this year is the way I handle different trails in my life. This reflection caused me to pull a book of my shelf that was collecting dust called The Secret http://www.thesecret.tv/, and then I had an AHA moment. The law of attraction and the power of gratification. So often we sit back and complain about the series of events that goes wrong in our life ....so the law of attractions brings us more of the same. How many times do we sit back and just be thankful. I started an exercise they suggested in the book which was to write 100 things I was grateful for. JEEZ! One hundred things.....I couldn't even think of 100 things I could be thankful for, BUT then I realized that some of the things I take for granted....I really shouldn't. I started writing those things down. By the time I was finished I had more than 100 things, and it was amazing how I had an inner glow inside me. I was overwhelmed with joy, and I had a new outlook on life. I encourage everyone this year to take some time to do this exercise....I promise you....you will gain a new appreciation on life. I am really looking forward to the New Year!

A Must See Chick Flick

OMG! On 1/9/09 ....get the popcorn ready this is going to be a blockbuster movie. I can't wait to see this movie.....hopefully, I can gather up a couple of my planner friends, so that we can see this movie together. This movie is about two brides competing against each other to be the best bride.....hysterical. This is definitely a chick flick....so ladies leave the men a home....grab your girlfriends and make it a girls night out!

Morgan's Gala

I have the honor and this year in serving on the committee board for the Morgan's Gala. This has been a exciting experience for me. The Gala is coming up soon on October 24th@ 8pm. Our Slogan- This is your gala, This is your night is hitting the air waves all over Balto-Metro area, because this gala is not just for the Morgan's Alumni. It's for everyone who wants to come out and support these young men and woman who wants to better themselves. All proceeds are being raised for scholarships for the students to assist with their books and grants. With the economy the way it is, these students need all the help they can get to achieve. Special Moments is owned and operated by Denise Forbes-McCormick, a professionally trained event planner. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in Public Relations and Promotion, she has been exposed to many wonderful and gratifying opportunities. Denise hosted a radio talk show discovering new talent and continued air wave work with V-103, a local Baltimore station where she assisted with their annual "For Sister's Only" event. Denise has also lent her talents to an event company where she worked with the "Associated Black Charities" organization on their annual "NBA All Star Event" in Maryland. Denise's passion for charity work also led her to work with the Baltimore Ravens National Football Team to raise money for inner city youth.

Denise receives intense training from her mentor while working as an assistant in an apprenticeship program with Linnyette Richardson-Hall who is currently featured on the Style Network, "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?" She is featured on some of Linnyette's episodes as one of her fabulous assistants. The passion for orchestrating wedding affairs has led her to start her own company, "Special Moments Event Planning and Design" in 2007.

Through her ardent studying for several years, she has learned the ins and outs of designing weddings from small intimate gatherings to large lavish events, from one of the premiere consultants in the industry. As a primary consultant and event designer, she will coordinate and supervise each event to make sure every detail is in place so that on your special day you can relax and have peace of mind within your Special Moment.

Turning 16

OMG! It seems like yesterday when I turned 16, and now I find myself celebrating my son's 16th birthday. I planned a small get together with my family. We had all his favorite foods....this is a family tradition that started a couple of years ago. The theme this year was spades tournament....since this is what he is into these days. We had so much fun, and I still have it in the card game.....I surprise myself. I guess somethings you never forget.....it brought back old memories. I feel really blessed to have such great kids and a close family. How many kids you know still wants to hang out with their mom at 16. I guess next he will start driving school. Geez! where does the time goes.

Advertising with the Knot

Well, I am excited because I launched my website on, The Knot. A big jump in the advertisement category....don't you think? I've been going through my portfolio trying to decide what pictures to use on my gallery, so I thought, why not take a couple of pictures from each wedding. I was first introduced to, The Knot last year when I went to there end of the year networking party. I ran into some old friends from my internship with Linnyette Richardson-Hall and I met some new friendly people, too. All in all it was a nice evening. Plus, I got the chance to see, The Visionary Art Museum located in Baltimore, Maryland. I absolutely loved it, if you are an artsy person it's a must see. Everyone their was so warm and welcoming. As a matter of fact, I fell in love with one of the floral displays so much that I told the vendor how much I admired her floral arrangement she immediately gave it to me. How cool is that? After that how could I not be part of, The Knot? I am excited and ready to see what's in store for me as I advertise with, The Knot.
